Maria Montessori, MD and renowned educator, was born in 1870 in Chiaravalle, Italy.
In 1906, Maria Montessori welcomed children from disadvantaged families in Rome to provide them with better education.
This was the birth of the "Children’s House" which became a place of applied education.
An educational method which has been created to develop a teaching approach based on the scientific observation of the cognitive and physical development of children.
This particular method, the Montessori method, is through observing children as they actually are, without the pressure of how adults would like them to be.
One of Maria Montessori’s great ideas was to adapt the classrooms, the exercises and the educational ‘life skill activities’ for the children. She did this by using child size furniture, as well as sensory equipment arranged on shelves in line with the children’s height, which enables them to choose an activity independently. The material is also self-corrective which helps to develop the children’s intellectual understanding, confidence and also the joy of independent learning.
Maria Montessori believed that young children possess intelligence with extraordinary abilities known as "Spirit Absorbent". She quickly discovered that very young children were interested in subjects such as geometry, grammar, botany and the learning of basic manners and respect for others.
Training teachers to her educational method was one of the most important aspects of her life. It allowed her to convey a new way to support children throughout their learning process: Montessori children learn in a warm and welcoming environment where they are treated with great respect. This atmosphere encourages children to develop an attitude that considers the awareness of others, a sense of responsibility, independence, with the desire to learn.
Montessori has become known worldwide, proven to be one of the most effective teachings through the positive experiences of Montessori children.

THE MONTESSORI APPROACH
Educational classes are particularly important for children between a year and a half to 6 years old. This is a key period of growth, which has a crucial effect on the child’s intelligence, personality and behavioral development.
The teachers guide and accompany the children by offering them practical life activities in both Hebrew and English, made with educational material that is the basis of the Montessori method.
This material helps the children to focus their attention as well as their motor skills, both necessary for growth and development.
Our "practical life material" develops motor skills and allows the children to be autonomous in everyday life. The children become aware of themselves, each other and their environment, opening them to reality, by using everyday equipment and activities (which are designed to children size).
Refining the five senses
The "sensory material" and artistic cultural activities develop intelligence and sharpen the senses, allowing the children to structure their minds and prepare them for the future.
Access to reading and writing
The "language material" develops vocabulary, writing and reading (oral to begin with, followed by written).

We welcome your child to our bilingual nursery classes from the age of 15 months.
